The first rumors about grid fees for electricity producers emerged in Austria at the end of June. The economic damage is between €500 million and €1 billion.

The first rumors about grid fees for electricity producers emerged in Austria at the end of June. Until now, only electricity consumers have paid grid fees. The end for the GEMINI next generation house in Austria? Oh, there's the term "grid-serving storage". Wouldn't the 140 kWh battery from the planned prototype be the mother of all grid-serving storage systems?
On November 20, I modified my simulation "solar.pl" to "grid.pl" to simulate the consequences of a new draft law: 2 cents for every kWh fed into the grid with more than 7 kW. How much loss does this mean for a GEMINI next generation house? Is this only calculated after 1/4 hour or after the highest measured feed-in power in a year?
In simulations, I tried to find out how much this would cost a GEMINI next generation homeowner, which would be the best strategy. Estimates were 300 to 500 € per year in grid fees and lower revenues on the spot market for feeding into the grid, depending on the variant of the vague rumors about the very vaguely drafted legislation. Lower revenues? It makes a difference whether you feed in 20 kW during the most expensive 6 hours of the day or 10 kW during the most expensive 12 hours of the day.
This is what came out of it:
PV systems with a grid-connected capacity of up to 20 kW can continue to feed into the electricity grid free of charge. For larger systems - existing and new - a fixed contribution of 0.05 cents per kilowatt hour (ct/kWh) will apply from 2027.
Even if a GEMINI 60 house with a double garage has 53 kW peak, only the 20 kW inverter that is connected to the grid is grid-connected, i.e. right at the limit. And even if the inverter were above that, feeding 40,000 kWh into the grid and 0.05 cents per kWh is an absolutely ridiculous €20. Yes, twenty euros and the markets have been completely unsettled for months because of this fligenscha*.
The economic damage is between €500 million and €1 billion. The expected revenue for 2027 is between €2 million and €5 million. This extreme disproportion between the damage caused and the new revenue characterizes an extremely unprofessional government. With extreme pomposity, this government has behaved like the proverbial bull in a china store. What did it say at the beginning? "Social justice", a buzzword with which someone feels entitled to cause as much social damage as they like.

70% peak photovoltaics as grid connection

With 3 kWh of battery per kW peak of photovoltaics, the grid connection can be reduced to 35% peak of photovoltaics. This is the refinement of flutter electricity to 24 electricity. This central issue of the grid fee explosion was not addressed with the limitation to 70% grid connection of peak photovoltaics.

Is electricity storage profitable without photovoltaics?

There it says about the cost of electricity in Lower Austria:
The biggest difference between the tariffs is the annual performance price to be paid.
- Power price Grid Lower Austria without metered power: € 48 per year
- Power price Grid Lower Austria with metered power: € 52.32 per kW/year.
This € 52.32 is therefore multiplied by the measured reference power.
This would mean that the 11 kW wallbox incurs 11 × 52.32 € = 575.72 € power provision fee. But it can get much worse. Unsuspectingly, you start the charging process, your wife is preparing a feast, cleaning the living room with the vacuum cleaner while your daughter is blow-drying her hair in the bathroom. 11 kW wallbox 3 kW stove 1.5 kW vacuum cleaner 1.5 kW hairdryer is 17 kW. This is the new record for the power consumption, which is then multiplied by 52.32 in the annual bill: €889.84 power supply fee.
Low prices for batteries and this insanely high power supply fee raise the question: Is an electricity storage system profitable even without photovoltaics? An electricity storage system makes it possible to switch to a disconnectable power connection. The power supply fee means that the electricity supplier must expect a demand for electricity at all times and must be prepared to provide the power. With a disconnectable power connection, however, it can simply switch off. So instead of being ready to supply 17 kW at any time, as in this example, simply "eene meene muh and you're out".
The solution: Hybrid inverter, 15 kWh 300 Ah low-voltage battery is already available for around €1,000. With installation around €4,000. In addition to the saved power supply fee, we also calculate a lower purchase price on the spot market, for example because the car is not at home during the day, but is still charged with electricity at very low spot market prices in the evening.
While the profitability of a battery without photovoltaics may still be borderline, it is an absolute recommendation with photovoltaics. Low-voltage batteries, typically 48 V nominal, actually 16 × 3.2 = 51.2 V, are very inexpensive. In the early days of the GEMINI next generation house, I therefore still wanted to work with 48 V batteries. The switch to high-voltage batteries took place when the planning exceeded 60 kWh batteries. These high-voltage batteries consist of low-voltage batteries connected in series and a control unit.

One more week, still no statement from Porsche

How do you permanently ruin your reputation? For two weeks now, it has not been possible to start a Porsche built in 2013 or later in Russia. Where is a statement from Porsche on this? I couldn't find one in Google. I found no indication that Porsche is clarifying the incident and helping the affected customers. I wrote about it last Sunday, still nothing from Porsche. Is it state-ordered sabotage or just a chain of unfavorable events? The silence from Porsche is deafening. After the incident, who will dare to buy a Porsche in a country whose government could fall out of favor with the German government?
A Porsche is an object of prestige. But if the Porsche is immobilized, then it becomes a reputation killer: "Hi, hi, Boris's Porsche is now just a paperweight, ha, ha".

The planetary restoration mentality

Planetary cleanup back to 350 ppm CO2 means about 47,000 TWh of electricity to filter 1 ppm CO2 from the atmosphere and recycle it into carbon and oxygen. Who can afford that? Only a rich human race, 10 billion people in prosperity can do it. One million km² of energy-optimized settlement areas alone should contribute 150,000 TWh for the necessary electricity for world-wide prosperity and planetary restoration.

It's not about whether the shares will be worth 100 times or 1000 times more in 20 years' time or whether they will only be worth a few cents. It's about the future of us all. Will there be a big showdown between eco-fascism and yesterday's fossils, or will it be possible to overcome the deep divisions in society and inspire supporters of both sides to work towards a great new goal?
Global prosperity and planetary restoration instead of saving, restricting, renouncing and climate catastrophe or peak oil and a little more climate catastrophe. Both sides must be convinced that there is no solution that is even remotely viable.

One new shareholder said "Me with my very modest investment", but €400 times €1,000 is also €400,000 for all investments up to the creation of the prototype.
